INDEE KILLED THE POP STAR
Classically trained, free spirit Indee, can not be described in words but rather experienced through her extreme talent of vocal enchantment. Get to know Indee below:
If you could headline any music festival which one would it be and why?
Coachella is queen! Runner-up goes to Music midtown because how special would it be to play my own hometown on that level?! #dreams #goals
How do you want to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as a good friend, daughter, lover, one day mother then grandmother, mentor, role-model and person that brought joy to others and made a difference in my community, people in my life and more not only with my music but through being myself. And if one day I can write well enough, through the legacy of my songs that will still be out there floating around somewhere touching souls and continuing to changing lives after I'm gone. That would be nice.
How was Indee manifested as an artist and why did she want to kill the "Popstar"?
Indee manifested after I spent many years of studying classical music only to later realize the opera world wasn't truly for me. I was dying to try something new and original but couldn't see myself not making music and so Indee was birthed.
"Killed the pop star" didn't murder anyone lolol ! The name is not to be taken literally but figuratively. It repesents a person or artist that is self-made. Somebody not only independent but someone that really goes for their dreams outside the norm. It is also a reference to that famous 80's song "Video killed the radio star" that signified the ending of one era and the beginning of a new which is what I wanted to create. I wanted to come up with a name that symbolizes the new era we are in now, specifically relating to indie and DIY artists being the new pop of today and tomorrow. With time I started to realize Indee KTPS is an era related not just to the artists of today but all walks of life. With more and more entrepreneurs out there starting their own businesses and following their hearts, quitting the endentured servant life of the day to day soul sucking corporate job rut, we are one step closer to tearing down the walls of our old world ways of living and stepping into our true freedom as a collective and it is so beautiful to watch as chaotic as our world may be sometimes, this is a movement that is happening right now and I feel lucky to be a part of it. More power to the people starting from each human!!! That's what I want IKTPS to stand for.
What inspires you to create the most and how do you formulate it into finished compositions? How do you know when it's finished?
Anything that I feel passionate enough about usually makes me write. Could be anything about what's going on in the world, something around me or a story about someone I know, my own personal life expriences and of course luuuurrrrvvvvv.
When inspiration decides to hit me it's usually a concept, a melody idea or chord progression/orchestration. Two of these or when I'm super lucky all three pop into my head first and then I have to fish for the rest by making sense of the swirl watercolors that are my musical thoughts. The initial part can usually come together rather quickly, depending. It's after I get a solid idea developed that the rest of the song's missing parts can take a long time to complete because they have to fit just right. Two words: Grueling. Process.
Unless I make up a bunch of bs lol, jk! Even if one song takes three years to incubate, the end result is TOTALLY WORTH IT!
Oh I know when it's finished because it feels right and has every component to make that song strong enough to stand up on its own.
What emotions do you want to evoke out of people when they hear your music?
These are the deepest questions! I love it when people are so touched by music they feel inspired to make a positive change in their own life. Whether it's just simply to purge emotional baggage, be more open and honest with yourself because the music was so powerful to change the way you think, write your own song or even bigger, a crowd forms together to stand up for something big as a result. I see the impact of creative inspiration as an energy that keeps moving in a cyclical way continuously presenting itself to all of us through all mediums therefore making it incredibly powerful. If inspiration is an emotion, she is my poison
Who would you want to collaborate with in the future?
Radiohead, Paul McCartney and Brian May while we're at it.
Are there any upcoming projects that we should expect? Any last words?
Expect the debut album or ep to drop sometime this year, finally. (Depending on what I can afford lololol)
Expect another special full length album called Cold Arizona to drop soon and after all THAT, expect my second album somewhere in the future. Already working on it and so stoked about it. It may or may not be a musical
