Joy Conaway is a singer-songwriter currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. Fueled by her desire to inspire, uplift and spread JOY to others through her music, she comforts and excites the soul through every lyric and note.
Once you are inspired, what process do you use to create your music?
A good song will tell a story, it will draw you in. I like telling stories, so that’s how I write my songs. After I’m inspired in the musical process I start writing. Whatever comes to mind, whatever I feel, it’s a heartfelt process. It’s a process of honesty.
In the future, who would you love to collaborate with?
When it comes to a collaboration, I want to learn from the person I work with. Ideally, I would love to collaborate with Solange. Her authenticity, content and artistry are so intriguing to me. Her music is “Black Girl Magic”, I’d love to be apart of it.
What is the biggest moment you would want to achieve in your career?
Every moment I perform is the “biggest moment”. I never take sharing my music and creativity for granted. There isn’t a stage that is “better” than another. Whenever I perform I want people to feel peace and JOY, I don’t need a grand stage to share that message.
Are there any upcoming projects in the works?
My next musical release is a fun up-beat song called “Alone”. The Gigabots and I are hard at work to finalize everything for you all! I’m always excited to share what I’ve been working on. It’s been a longtime coming and I can’t for you all to hear it.

What moment in your life made you want to become a musician?
There hasn’t been a specific moment when I knew I wanted to become a singer, it’s something that I’m called to do. It’s something that I think about everyday. I wake up wanting to record, wanting to create. It’s a lifestyle of creativity and passion.
How would you describe your style (favorite designers, color, etc.)?
My style is comfortable. Not too showy, I like to let my voice be the thing that I showcase, not clothing. Being comfortable in your own skin is my mantra.
What movies, tv shows, music, etc. inspires you?
LUKE CAGE…. A black bulletproof man with a hoodie…. *le sigh* <3. I love “New Girl”, “Blackish” makes me laugh. Any “Disney” cartoon movie from the 90’s and early 2000’s really birthed a love for music and stories.
